Number of pass students in third class = 30 x 60 / 100  = 18
Number of pass students in fourth class = 40 x 100 / 100  = 40

Total students = x + 2x = 3x
Percentage of boys failed = 30%
Number of boys failed = 0.3 × 2x = 0.6x
Percentage of girls failed = 45%
Number of girls failed = 0.45 × x = 0.45x
Total students failed = 0.6x + 0.45x = 1.05x
Total students passed = 3x – 1.05x = 1.95x
Percentage of passed students = 1.95x ÷ 3x × 100
